A letter from Paul DiMarco:
Dear 70's Diehards, I regret having to inform you that I just got off the phone with Bill Trotta (program director of 98Q). He told me that due to my other obligations which take up most of my weekend time during the summer months. The 70's show was getting cancelled. This was not really a surprise to me considering my other job is what really makes me money, Super 70's Saturday Night made no money, but it did make me very happy.
I'm sure all of you realize that happiness doesn't pay the bills. So you can see my point. If your wondering why I didn't try to get a reasonable amount of money to do the show, well I did more than once, after 5 years of getting nowhere, you kinda get discouraged. The one thing I want you all to know is that Super 70's Saturday Night was a hit since day 1, and it didn't get cancelled due to lack of interest. So thanks again for making 98Q's "Super 70's Saturday Night" a part of your weekend, and thanks again for making me #1 on Saturday night. I also need to thank Bill Trotta for giving me the freedom of creativity, and able to make Super 70's the success it was. It's probably safe to say that if Bill had any say in this matter, he would have kept the 70's going.
I have proved myself to the radio industry. The programming of 70's music can be done successfully if you use the proper elements, Thank You all so much for your support, you've been wonderful. Farewell Super 70's Saturday Night.
Mister 70's...Paul DiMarco.
May I comment on Paul DiMarco's Radio Show on 98-Q. It was truly one of the best 70's show I have ever heard. I was fortunate enough to get some of his shows on tape. These will be posted soon on my web site. Two shows are archived on VHS tape to capture hours of listening pleasure.
Paul, Thanks for the nice job. Paul can be found on Stickam.com playing on the Totally 70's Network.
